Work in Progress
Right now, I’m thinking a lot about ideas that don’t stay still.
Some of them might become chapters.
Some might turn into footnotes.
Some might completely disappear.
For example:
How did people learn when there were no books?
If stories were sung, did that change how people remembered them?
Did children learn by watching, copying, or being corrected or all three?
I’m also obsessed with the idea that history doesn’t move in straight lines.
Things don’t always get “better.”
They just get different.
The tricky part about working on a new book is that answers feel tempting but questions feel more honest.
So this is me admitting something early:
some of these ideas will change.
And that’s okay.
This space exists so I don’t have to pretend they’re finished.
